Week of August 17th

We went to the beach this week. The girls did great in the car....snacks, singing music, spotting signs and watching dvds. Their favorites were Blue's Clues, Baby Einstein Neptune and Barney. We arrived at 5, put our things in the condo and went straight to the sand. Sydney loved it! She wanted to go into the ocean and build sand castles. Caitlin couldn't scream louder. When I would try to set her down, her legs would lock up and arms grab on me. Each day got better. We put an umbrella beside her, a chair, sat her on a blanket and loaded her up with toys. She buried her balls in the sand and would laugh when she found them. By the 3rd day she was walking a little on the beach but didn't want to stay longer than 2 hrs. Everyone took turns taking Sydney in the ocean...she couldn't get enough of the water. Sydney loved digging in the sand and looking for seashells. We would eat breakfast, go set up at the ocean, play a bit, head to the pool, in for lunch, naptime, back to the ocean, the pool, dinner, baths and games in the condo. The day it rained we went bowling across the street. Sydney loved rolling the ball and high fiving everyone. After someone would bowl, Caitlin would show her more sign and laugh. It was a great trip. Matt and I alternated getting up early with the girls, feeding them breakfast and putting sunscreen on them. It was a nice break and I loved not cooking. The last day Caitlin started saying "daddy." It is a sweet soft sound. Big news- Thursday night Dustin took Jessie out to dinner and proposed! When they came back we were all waiting to hear details and celebrate. She was so excited and we are so thrilled to have Dustin in the family.
