Week of July 6th

Tuesday Sandy came over and played with Caitlin so I could take Sydney to the free movies. We saw "Horton Hears A Who." FABULOUS! I love kid movies with no villain and no princesses. Sydney is doing really well in swimming lessons. This is her 2nd week.
Wednesday was Sydney's 3 yr old checkup. She was great for the nurse and Dr. Smeltzer, telling them stories about her imaginary dogs, her favorite foods (named all fruits) and told them about using the potty by herself. She had to get one shot, cried for about 30 seconds and then mumbled, "I'm tough!" She is 38 in. (67%) and 33lbs. (69%).
Thursday Sandy brought over Great Grandmama and Great Granddaddy. The girls put on their "performing" face and showed them their toys and how to bounce in the jumpy house. I am pretty sure they were worn out when they left, but they loved it. Matt went to the lake that night with Nick and Andrew.
Friday we dropped Caitlin off at dad's and went to check in the hotel for Sydney and my "vacation." I thought getting away with her would help the whining...showing her what big kids get to do and babies have to stay home. It was great. The first thing she wanted to do is the ice bucket. She strutted down to the vending machine but then got frightened at how loud the ice machine was. In the room she filled up each cup with ice and then water from the sink, poured them out, over and over. After a couple of hours we went to her last swim lesson. I took some good photos so check out July's pictures at the end of the month. Coach Scott had her jumping off the diving board and begging to go more. The man is a genius! He even gave out medals at the end. That night we went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner. Sydney is into elephants so this was right up her alley. We walked Opry Mills and found the carousel and the Disney Store. Once we got to the hotel she was so excited to sleep with mama. We tried to sleep but she would point to my eyes and say, "You awake or asleep?" I found that she sleeps through the night but cries out and mumbles in her sleep. At one point I looked at her and her eyes are closed, breathing deeply asleep but whimpering a little. She was upside down at 3am and sideways at 6 and then woke me up at 7 saying, "Sydney and Mommy's day of fun! Wake up!"
Saturday morning we played Candyland, Go Fish and drew markers until room service came. The girl loved the idea of breakfast in bed. Then we went to Wave Country. She loved the wave pool and running in and out. We rode the water slide at least 20 times. After a long nap we went to Aquarium restaurant, the carousel, ice cream and then putt putt golf. She was so cute putting, kicking and/or picking up the ball and putting it in the hole. She was fascinated by the colors of the balls. That night we stayed up and watched Andy Griffith Show, cuddled up and fell asleep. AWESOME!
Sunday we had breakfast in bed again and then did the indoor heated pool. She loved the pool now and is fearless. When we left we rode the elevator up and down about 20 minutes. She would push the buttons for everyone and talk nicely to them. She did not fuss once and we smiled the whole time. It was worth it for sure. I really enjoyed the 3 year old and being about to do more with her. Daddy asked her about the trip and her favorite part and she replied, "We got to eat food in a big bed."
