Week of Dec. 21st
Monday we went to Melissa's Christmas Party. Lucy loved handing out cookies and the girls decorated them. Kristin was there and Sydney enjoyed talking to Baby Jacob. After naps we went to dad's house to celebrate his Christmas. The girls enjoyed handing out presents and of course receiving some Mickey Mouse toys.
Tuesday we played with the karaoke machine dad gave us. Our favorites included Wheels on the Bus and Itsy Bitsy Spider. We hosted playgroup after naps and the girls played in the jumpy.
Wednesday we went to church to play in the gym. Sydney loved playing soccer with Campbell and Taylor. Tamara brought a riding toy that Caitlin wouldn't let anyone touch.
Thursday was Christmas Eve. We started the day at Sandy's. The girls enjoyed playing in new dress up clothes Melissa and Jevin gave to them. There are some great photos of them dressing up. Since they are moving next week we decided to go out to lunch at Chef's Market. Sydney put stickers on everyone and Caitlin ran around the table. We then went to mom's to nap. When Sydney woke up she had put stickers all over the bed. We ate a quick dinner and then opened presents. The girls opened a puppet theater and some tag books. We came home and put out cookies for Santa and some carrots for the reindeer. Sydney was eager to get to bed so Santa would come. For the last time we read Clifford's Christmas.
She woke up on Christmas morning with a trail of candy canes to our bedroom. She was thrilled Santa brought her candy. We woke up tired Caitlin and went downstairs. When Sydney walked into the den she said, "OH MY GOODNESS!" She pointed out everyone's stocking and piles and then started opening her stocking. After finding some nutter putters and chapstick, Sydney wanted to open Caitlin's stocking. They went back and forth for 30 minutes just on the stocking..."We both got a flashlight, I got a cup, we both got cups. I got Dora toothpaste. Look at my m&ms. Wow! Santa is great!" Sydney opened one gift and it was all Tinkerbell stuff. She then wanted to watch the dvd and didn't want to open anymore gifts. Caitlin's gifts were in bags so she opened the tissue paper and bags in 10 minutes. Santa brought her some books, leapfrog toys, a puzzle, kitchen food, etc. After the movie we opened our gifts and then Sydney finished opening at 10:30. I think she just didn't want it to end. Santa brought both girls 2 Cabbage Patch dolls and a basketball goal. He brought Sydney leapfrog toys, a computer, a puzzle, and ice cream toy. It was so enjoyable! We took our time opening and playing with each toy. After naps we went to Michelle and Randall's house to celebrate Phillips' Christmas. We played dirty Santa and Sydney opened the 400 peppermints so I was begging her to pass them out.
Saturday and Sunday we gradually took down decorations and the tree. We asked Sydney what her favorite thing that Santa brought and she said Cinderella and the wand. 3 1/2 is a great age for Santa. I can't wait until next year with a 4 and 2 year old.
Sunday we drove to Lawrenceburg to celebrate with Great Granddaddy and Great Grandmama. They weren't afraid of the dog and would let her lick their fingers. They were asking for more deviled eggs and climbing in everyone's laps. They opened some coloring books that were great for the ride home. They were still sleeping on the way back so we drove around looking at houses and subdivisions. We are looking to move in 2010 and have to make the decision about school and if we are putting her in at age 5. Tough decisions for parents!!
