Week of Dec. 20th
Monday we skipped gymnastics. We are bandaging Caitlin's forehead. The stitches should dissolve this week. That night Andrea, Davy, VV, Jessie and Clayton came over for dinner. Evie is working on playing with both girls. Caitlin gets her feelings hurt sometimes-trying to keep up. Pippy brought the girls a Strawberry Shortcake movie so they enjoyed Plum Pudding and Candycorn's fair! Precious vocabulary and moral lessons!
Tuesday we went to the preschool gym to play with friends. I got a little work done and the girls enjoy bringing in their big wheels and tricycles.
Wednesday we baked cookies for Santa, played games and enjoyed some Christmas cartoons. Caitlin has taken an interest in Dora and Sydney begs for Angelina Ballerina.
Thursday after naps we had an appt with plastic surgeon to look at Caitlin's forehead. We waited 30 minutes for a 2 min. appt. He looked at it, said it isn't infected and that was it! He said if she had hit to one side that her head would have gone numb. The fact that it was in the middle, that was a good thing. After that, we went to dad's for his Christmas. We ate El Chico's and opened gifts. The girls enjoyed giving out their presents. Sydney ripped her presents open and even asked to open others. Caitlin wanted to take her time and play with each gift.
Friday was Christmas Eve. We started at Sandy's at 9:30 for breakfast. All her family was there-celebrating the first Christmas in their new house. The girls racked up- presents from Gama and Granddaddy, Melissa and Jevin, Larry, Quintin and Suzette, Andrew and Grandmama and Granddaddy. They said thank you after each one and loved all the attention. Sydney really enjoyed playing with Suzette and Caitlin took to Andrew. After naps, we headed to mom's for her Christmas. We ate a nice meal and then mom's turn to go to town with the girls. They started with stockings, went to 3 wrapped gifts and ended with a picture of a trampoline. These kiddos are so blessed to have grandparents like ours. Matt and I enjoyed watching. The girls fell asleep on the way back so we transferred quickly. I forgot to wake up Sydney to set out cookies for Santa so I did that- thank goodness she put them on his plate before we left.
Saturday was Christmas-first Christmas in our new house. We put tape at the top of the stairs to help Sydney remember to stay upstairs until we woke up. Caitlin started at 7- of course I was up starting at 5:30 so antsy! We all woke up Sydney and then went downstairs. Their eyes were priceless! "WOW, LOOK AT THIS! MY FAVORITE! GUM! GUM GUM!" Sydney tore into her 3 wrapped gifts. Caitlin took it all in opening a gift every 30 minutes. After an hour of playing and opening, Sydney asked Caitlin what room she wanted to play with in the dollhouse. Caitlin's response, "What dollhouse?" This thing is so big-doubleside- and she is so wrapped up in the moment, all she focused on was her stocking and didn't see the unwrapped gifts. The girls played all morning with the dollhouse, the one day of the year eating anything, Matt playing with his ipad and myself-soaking it all up! Oh yeah, it was a white Christmas too! That night we went to dad's for his family's Christmas. The girls played with Janey and VV. We had fun playing dirty santa. Caitlin even sat with Kathy for a bit. We were nervous when we left-it had been snowing. We decided to get off 440 and come down Hillsboro. Bad idea! Hillsboro was icy and no street lights. After my incident last week and this night sliding, we decided our next car with be 4wheel drive!
Sunday we did the same thing of playing. I was thrilled to hear the creative and imaginary minds with the dollhouse. They had their princesses, ponies, Olivia, Sesame Street friends, barn animals, anything they found they played with in the dollhouse. After naps we went to Sandy's for Moore extended Christmas. Teri grabbed Sydney and gave her so much love-fed her, rocked her, Sydney ate it up. They both didn't have a nice exit because they didn't want to leave and were exhausted from the week.
